Who we are

We are four families working together to pool our resources and funding to run an innovative care provision that offers the best quality of life for our adult sons who have autism.

Our Story So Far

We launched Bright Green Light in 2017 to give our sons high-quality, consistent and sustainable care. We purchased four houses for the young men in a quiet, residential cul-de-sac in Radstock, near Bath, where our sons live as active members of the community, gently supported by an excellent team of Personal Assistants.

Rather than using a third party to coordinate and manage our sons’ care, we employ Personal Assistants (carers) directly. We work with established local providers to ensure the induction and ongoing training and support for our staff is as high as any peer setting. Our staff work in small teams, each dedicated to the four young men, and are supported by a team leader, a manager and of course by us the families.

Working this way means our sons will have continuity of care and our staff will be well supported and have the opportunity to grow their qualifications and experience. It also makes us lean and efficient: providing care this way saves the local authority (and the tax-payer) much needed funds, something we are extremely proud of.

The four young men are all actively engaged in the local area, carrying out a number of voluntary positions in the community.

If you have not been a personal assistant before, or if you are curious to see what the young men in our scheme get up to, please watch this short video.
